ANIMAL SHELTER HAS HELPED!
Hi, I'm Rocky. I am a 2 year old Chocolate Lab. Thanks
to the doctors and staff at Tender Care Animal Hospital,
I have been successfully treated for heartworms. The
great people at Tender Care Adoption Center even
found me a  home. I feel great and I love my new home!
Hi, We are Silky Terriers. We arrived at Tender Care Animal
Shelter in April of 2009. We were about one year old and are
brother and sister. We are lucky to be alive. When we arrived at
Tender Care shelter, we were very sick. We kept throwing up
and had horrible diarrhea. Fortunately, the doctors and staff at
Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital treated us with donated funds so
we didn't have to pay for our life saving care! We had a deadly
virus called parvovirus. You would not know it now, but we
were near death. Thanks to IV fluids, antibiotics, and lots of
TLC, the kind people at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital nursed
us back to health. Then the people at Tender Care Animal
Shelter helped us find a great new home!

                               WHY ADOPT FROM A SHELTER
Did you know that 25-30% of pets in shelter are purebred?
Between 3 and 4 million pets are euthanized each year in the united states. Adopting from a shelter saves lives!
When you adopt from a shelter, you save a life
By adopting one pet, you make room in the shelter for us to house another pet, which helps to save another life
You save money. The cost of a shelter per is usually a small fraction of the cost of a breeder pet. In addition, the
shelter pets come already spayed and neutered saving you additional costs compared to a breeder.

Adopting a pet gives you unconditional love. Taking the pet home and caring for it provides a
sense of purpose and fulfillment. Pets lessen feelings of loneliness and are emotionally and
physically beneficial for your well being. Spending time with pets can lower blood pressure
and cholesterol levels. Walking and grooming your pet can help strengthen the heart,
improve blood circulation and slow bone tissue loss.

THANK YOU FOR ADOPTING A PET FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER
SUCCESS STORIES shared by some of our grateful, former homeless cats & dogs
Hi! I'm JT! 4 years ago I was very sick. Someone poured something called "acid
" on me and I suffered some very serious burns. I was picked up by the nice
people at the shelter and they took me to Gentle Docto Animal Hospital.
Unfortunately I did not have any insurance and when I checked my wallet, it was
empty. To say the least, things were looking bleak. Then, I got the break I was
hoping for. The kind doctors and staff at Tender Care Animal Hospital decided
that a cat this handsome deserved a second chance. They donated their time
and all the medicines I needed to nurse me back to health. I feel like a new cat
today. The only wounds I have left are some scars, but I think that adds
character and makes me look tough! Now I live like a king at Tender Care Animal
Hospital. Come by and see me some time.

Hello everyone, my name is Tom, and I live at Tender Care Animal Hospital. As a matter of fact,
if it wasn't for Tender Care Animal Hospital, I wouldn't be here today. I was brought to them by
the local shelter after I had been hit by a car. I don't remember much from the accident because
I took a pretty big bump to my head. My jaw was broken, my eye injured, and the hair on the
front of my body looked like it had been burned. Even though I was in pretty bad shape, the
doctors at Tender Care Animal Hospital volunteered to fix me. My jaw was wired and medication
was applied to my eye.  Recovery was a very long and scary road. My mouth had very bad
sores, I think from coming into contact with an exhaust pipe, or something that was just as hot. It
was too hard to eat, I had to get a feeding tube because it was too hard to swallow. Everyone
took turns feeding me and cuddling with me. When I was well enough, I no longer needed the
feeding tube, but they still fed me by hand.  It had been so long since I had eaten from a bowl
that I had to learn how to all over again. There were times when everyone worried that I would
not be able to recover, but the wonderful doctors, technicians and receptionist would not give
up on me. Because of their compassion, dedication and undying love, I was able to make a
remarkable recovery. I am blind in one eye, and my fur isn't nearly as sleek and smooth as it
used to be, but that hasn't slowed me down yet.  My favorite past times include cuddling in
someone's lap, playing hide and seek from the staff, and I also look out for my buddy Jack by
feeding him some of my food (Jack is always hungry!). I am living proof of the dedication and
compassion of the staff at Tender Care Animal Hospital and a small miracle!
Tom

Adult pets often are a better fit for families. Playful kittens and puppies may scratch, claw, and nip which may
frighten some children. Some children can play too rough for young pets.
Adult pets require less training. Many are already housebroken, are calmer, and are no longer in the puppy stage
where they chew on everything and dig frequently in the yard.
You do not have to guess at the size of the pet when full grown. Often with puppies, the dog is either much bigger or
much smaller than you were expecting when full grown. With kittens, the aggressive play stage where they bite and
scratch is over once they are about 1 year of age or older.
You save money. Adult pets usually have little or no vaccines remaining. Puppies and kittens still must finish their
vaccine series, which increase your costs of veterinary care.
You are saving a life that very few other people are willing to save. Most people want to adopt the cute puppies and
kittens and are not interested in the adult cat or dog. We tend to find the least cute and least pretty a dog or cat is,
the harder it is to find them a home. You will receive our "saint award" if you adopt these pets (especially adult
black cats and large black dogs).

This cute little  puggle had a medial
patellar luxation (knee surgery)
repaired by the doctors at Tender
Care Animal Hospital.  The surgery
was a complete success and Tender
Care Adoption Center found a great
home for this little puggle.
WILDLIFE RESCUED
This Canada goose was
found with a broken wing
that had to be Amputated.
The goose now lives on a
farm with it's own pond.
This turtle was run over by a
lawn mower. Tender Care
doctors repaired the turtle's
shell and has been returned
to the wild
Found on a local road on it's
back, the turtle's shell is
broken across the back.
Screws were placed on each
side of the broken shell and
wired together to hold the
shell together until it heals.

Hi, my name is Sweet Pea, I am a female pinscher. I am only 5
years old and a sweetheart with lots of love to give.  I am current on
vaccines, but I am diabetic. I will need a home that will make sure I
stay healthy by getting my insulin 2 times a day. I cost just under
$1.00 a day for treatment and I am very good while getting my
insulin injections. But, I am so sad....everytime someone comes in
to visit me, I get so excited...finally I am going home!! Then they
see the healthy dogs next to me and decide I am just too much
work. Isn't someone ever going to adopt me?!? I'm lovable too! The
staff will show you how to care for me. Please make my dreams
come true this holiday season by adopting me today! For more
information, please call 636 922-3360 or come in to Tender Care's
shelter located at 6002 S Highway 94, Weldon Spring, MO
