Chris
Veterinary Technician
I decided to go into the veterinary field after having had years of experience in
the pet store industry as well as being a former breeder of exotic animals, it
seemed as if becoming involved in this field would be the next best career step. It
has proven to be a very rewarding career field, there are fewer jobs that I have
found that offer anywhere near the rewards as this field of work. The thing I
enjoy most about my job is helping to ensure that our clients will have a happy
and healthy future with their companion animals. My past experience with
animals has been fairly extensive, I have many years of experience with exotic
animals, especially reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. At one time I was
breeding over forty species of reptile and amphibian, and have studied zoology
extensively through college. I currently have one cat whose name is Bucky, two
species of lizard, a large red tail boa, sulcata tortoise and a species of
endangered Mexican salamander called Axoltols. Interacting with clients is one
of the high points of my job, it allows me to see the happiness they enjoy with
their animals. When I am not at work I spend most of my time reading on various
subjects and spending hours following the St. Louis Cardinals as well as
managing a fantasy baseball team.
